Yarning Gathering Place

The Yarning Gathering Place, designed by Tyá Petterson Dynevor is a space for all people of various ages, especially the young as well as other cultural groups to peacefully come together. Located up-hill near the Bomaderry Community Centre, its seating formation of wooden stools represent the 13 tribes within the Yuin Nation.

It has 2 entries, North & East and 2 exits, South & West symbolising the flow of energy that the circle encapsulates. Big sandstone blocks are placed to view the park. The area is recognised as an educational site that can influence our youth and others, teaching, learning and understanding the traditional ways of living through shared knowledge from Elders who pass on their wisdom from generation to generation.

This wisdom can be safely shared within the broader communities of Bomaderry and the Shoalhaven region. This can also allow communities to connect with one another through story-telling, sharing traditional knowledge of the local area and most importantly, have a place to heal energy and spirit. The Yarning Gathering Place can be a safe place to practice and teach traditional corroboree and dancing for future generations to better understand and pass knowledge into the future
